Many travelers have to waste time queuing for the screeners at the airport. This is unavoidable and it is the front line personnel that you see as you make your way toward the gate are just the worker bees. They’re not Congress and they’re not the big wig decision makers. If at times they seem like robots, deviating very little from their spcheel, it’s because they have procedures that they must follow and deviating from the standard operation procedure is not an option.

There are a number of things you can do yourself to speed things along. Listed below are the top ten tips to help your visit to the airport security checkpoint hassle-free.

1. Don’t wear pants or suspenders that contain a lot of metal. If you can’t remove the metal prior to passing through the metal detector, you’ll be sent for additional screening, thus increasing your wait time.

2. Laptop computers and video cameras that use cassette tapes, not digital cameras, need to come out of their carrying case prior to passing through the x-ray machine. Have these items out of the case before you reach the table to divest your items.

3. Wear tennis shoes or known airport friendly footwear so you’ll avoid setting off the alarm on the walk through metal detector. Often the screeners will encourage you to take your shoes off before passing through the metal detector. What many passengers fail to recognize is that many, many shoe manufacturers place steel shanks (supports) in the souls of the shoes. Just because you don’t see metal, doesn’t mean they are metal-free.

4. If you have an inkling that your belt buckle or larger metal watch may set off the metal detector, remove them while you’re waiting in line and have them ready to place into a bin.

5. Have your boarding pass and government issued photo ID readily available. Some airports have someone checking your boarding pass and ID as you first approach your concourse, then shortly thereafter there is another employee asking for the same thing. Actually they may be asking for the same thing, but these employees, often one a federal employee and one a private company employee, while looking at the same thing, aren’t looking for the same thing. Each person has a different role to fill. If you have to dig in your purse or wallet for these items, that will increase the wait time. Ensure your boarding pass is pulled out of the airline envelope.

6. Only undeveloped film with a speed of 800 or higher should be hand checked. All other disposable cameras, film of 100, 200 or 400 speed and digital cameras are safe to pass through the x-ray. Know your film speed before reaching the x-ray machine.

7. Leave all tools, Swiss army knives, pointed end scissors, and bladed corkscrews in your checked bag. You may not bring them onboard the aircraft in your carry-on bags. If your bag must be searched to find these items, it’s definitely going to increase your wait time.

8. Strollers and pet carriers need to pass through the x-ray machine. Remove your children and pets from this equipment prior to reaching the x-ray.

9. Most small jewelry such as rings, necklaces and earrings will not set off the alarm. Don’t bother wasting time removing them.

10. Yes your fanny pack, hidden money belt and wallet on a string around your neck must pass through the x-ray, have it ready to place into a bin.

With this method, you can pass the metal detector easily without much checking from the officers. When you fly next time, use these strategies and try having fun by being prepared!

There are ways to find air travel cheap. The first thing to do is invest some time in research. If you call a travel agent they will offer you a fare that might seem reasonable but it’s important to remember that the agent has to make money and therefore they normally need to charge service fees.

Taking a vacation is always a welcome thing. The cost of the airline tickets isn’t nearly as entertaining.

Another point to consider when you are searching for air travel cheap is last minute deals. Many airlines offer very good fares a day or two before the day of the flight. The reason is that they want the airplane to be as full as possible. This can be difficult to plan for and it’s not advisable if you have your heart set on a certain destination on a particular date.

You can begin your search by visiting one of the search engines. Do a search on discount air travel and you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the number of results. You can then visit a few sites and compare the prices of flights on the dates to the destination you desire.

One of the drawbacks of purchasing air travel cheap is that there are often penalties if you decide to cancel or change your flight. For that reason it’s important to be firm about your upcoming plans and to choose an itinerary that you know you’ll be able to stick to.

The time of year you travel can also impact whether or not you find air travel cheap. Certain weeks are considered very popular and therefore fares are increased. Some of those time periods include late December, the month of March and the summer, in particular July and August. One of the reasons is because more families are traveling during this period because of school holidays.

One of the best ways to find air travel cheap is to look on the internet. In recent years there has been an onslaught of websites that offer discount travel. The flights are the same ones that are booked through the airlines directly and the service is exactly the same.

Once you find a flight that fits your preference and budget you simply purchase a ticket. Most tickets are now e-tickets or electronic tickets. This simply means that you don’t receive a hard copy of your ticket, instead when you check-in with the airline they will issue you your boarding pass.

Air travel cheap can be found, it’s just a matter of planning and research. You’ll be glad you invested the time and the effort once you realize how much money you really can save.

Article Body:

In 1919, as Europe emerged from the First World War, travel moved into the forefront of people’s minds. Buoyed up on the new technologies of the day, the forerunner of BA, Aircraft Transport and Travel (AT&T), launched the world's first daily international scheduled air service. It offered a service from London to Paris and ushered in the modern age of air travel.

Within 5 years there were already a handful of start-up airlines offering their services in Britain. In March 1924, the four best known of these: Handley Page, Instone, AT&T, and British Air Marine Navigation merged into one larger company called Imperial Airways and offered flights around the British Empire.

As Imperial Airways grew in size, it became a forerunner of a modern airline, offering flights to countries all across the world including Canada and Australia, and competed effectively with the Airships that dominated the era.

In 1935, a rival arrived on the scene. British Airways Ltd was formed from a number of small privately owned companies and quickly developed into a company of similar size. By 1939, just before the Second World War broke out, the British Government nationalised the two airlines and created a new, government owned agency known as the British Overseas Airways Corporation or BOAC for short.

The final stage in these early decades of BA came in 1949, when BOAC was separated into two separate entities: British European Airways, which carried out short haul flights into Europe, and BOAC, which continued to serve the rest of the world. These two siblings served the world at the beginning of the jet age in the 1950s, and became iconic leaders of British innovation.

By the 1970s, fuel costs and industrial concerns over economy saw the government of the day decide that the two companies had become bloated and inefficient and by 1974, after a 4 year process, the tow companies came together as one: British Airways, just in time for the birth of the supersonic age with the Concorde in 1976.

Airlines know the price of getting a new customer. And they know that it’s a whole lot easier and less expensive to keep the customers that they already have. For this reason, airlines started frequent flyer programs. These programs reward you the more you fly.

Frequent flyer programs let you to receive certain travel benefits based on the number of miles (or sporadically the number of trips) you fly on a specific airline. Standard awards include a free ticket or a free upgrade from coach to first class.

Some airlines also offer "elite" programs that provide check-in and boarding priorities, and "affinity" credit cards which earn mileage credits when you use them for purchases.
In order to earn these benefits you must become a member of that airline’s program; this can often be done through a travel agency.

There isn’t a how many programs you can join. But before you decide which program to join, you should compare different programs carefully.

Every airline program carries conditions and limitations. So you should be careful to read the promotional material and the all the fine print. Here are a few things you should take a look at:

- The rate at which credits are earned, minimum credits earned per flight

- If you are more interested in free tickets for yourself, or companion tickets, or upgrades

- How much credit you need for the awards you’re interested in

- What are the deadlines for accumulated credits?

- Does the airline serve the cities you’re traveling to, and if it has tie-ins or other airlines and to car rental companies and hotels you would use.

- If awards can be transferred to someone else or just members only

Also, airlines reserve the right to make changes at any time. More often than not, without notice. This can include changes to the conditions and limits on the awards earned.

You should also be keeping track of the mileage you've earned and check it against the statement the airline mails to you.

It's not uncommon that airlines add new routes after you join the program. You might be able credits on that route but not use awards there.

Another important not that you should be aware of is that airlines usually restrict the transfer of mileage earnings. Most often being the sail or attempted sale of credits or awards you've earned and want to sell. You should never try this as the airlines have caught on to these schemes and actively persue it.

The Private Jet Pilot’s Considerations

Ever wondered why some private aircraft can takeoff or land at a particular airport and time while others can not? Many factors influence a pilot's decision when filing a flight plan including: aircraft performance, operational control procedures, weather, altitude of the airport and weight of the passengers, crew and fuel. These factors make it difficult to predict flight times, fuel stops and airport selection. I have listed below each category and how it may affect your particular flight.

Aircraft Performance
Not only does each aircraft type have its own performance characteristics, but each individual plane may have different weights, modifications and operating procedures. For example: a typical Citation II has a shorter range than one with a High Gross Kit modification, which allows it to take off and land with additional fuel onboard. Also, different avionics can affect the weight and balance of an aircraft. So, it is entirely possible for one Citation II jet to have a range of 1,000nm while another can travel 1,900nm on the same day and route.

Operational Control Procedures
There are over 3,000 FAA certified aircraft operators in the country, and each follows operational procedures which the FAA and third-party auditing firms approve and routinely review to hold aircraft operators accountable.

Weather
Wind, precipitation and temperature will affect an aircraft's performance characteristics especially when flying into or out of airports with a runway length less than 6,000 feet. If the runway is wet for example, the aircraft may have to reduce the amount of fuel it has on board to compensate for the slower stopping speed. Or, a high temperature which thins the air may reduce the aircraft's ability to climb. Pilots speak with a certified weather briefer prior to each flight to help them plan accordingly. Since weather is variable, an original itinerary that forecasts a direct flight might adjust to include a fuel-stop. On the other hand, strong tailwinds may permit a direct flight when a fuel-stop was initially planned.

Altitude
High altitude offers unique challenges to pilots as the air is thinner and requires faster takeoff and landing speeds. Surrounding mountains pose additional challenges, which is why, for example, Aspen Airport (ASE) has instituted a curfew between dusk and dawn to increase safety margins.

Weight
Weight is one of the more controllable performance variables and is typically adjusted to compensate for weather and altitude. The number of passengers, crew members, baggage and fuel are all estimated prior to flights in order for the crew to forecast a safe takeoff and landing.

Most private aircraft operators incur additional costs when they have to delay, re-route or make an additional fuel stop. So, when a crew recommends an alternate, you can be assured they are looking out for your safety.

Losing My Virginity - To Virgin Atlantic Premium Economy

Since returning from holiday everyone's been asking, "What's with the big grin?"

Well if you all must know, I just lost my Virginity, and to be honest, I can't wait to go back for more. I'm no pushover you understand, but after hearing those rumors, I had to find out what all the fuss was about. So one minute I'm innocently working away at my desk, and the next I'm on the phone to my travel agent booking a seat to Hong Kong for a few nights of heady shopping, sightseeing, and degustation.

I'm not one to tell, but as soon as I arrived at the Virgin Atlantic counter at Sydney Airport they were already turning on the charm, inviting me to a special priority check-in for Premium Economy passengers, where a very friendly agent quickly checked me through with a big smile, remarking that I still had plenty of time to ogle the duty-free goodies before take off. Rather fresh of her I know, but that's just the start of it.

As we boarded the aircraft, one of the attentive crew suggested I slip into something more comfortable - like my seat - while she fixed me a drink. Looking around with glee I discovered it wasn't just a line; Premium Economy really did only have eyes for me, and twenty-seven others.

Not only were the seats wider than regular economy class - think Beyonce dancing next to Kylie - the chair configuration of two, three, two across the aircraft provided just the right amount of personal space. In addition, they've added extra padding, leg rests, and a generous recline. This baby was definitely built for comfort.

To put me in the mood before take off, I was offered a selection of drinks, including a glass of champagne. I hadn't intended on letting my guard down so early, but I'm talking real glasses of French champagne, not just plastic picnic goblets of Spumante. What did they take me for, a Business Class passenger?

Slurping noisily on my glass of bubbly, so as to be heard back in economy, I couldn't help but notice a well-stacked set of amenities bursting out of the seatback pocket in front. I have to say I'm a legroom man myself, however, these colourful kits were more than a handful. Each one was stuffed with socks, eyeshades, pens (who can ever find one when they need to fill out those customs forms?), notepads, tissues, and big enough to air your dirty laundry in on the way home.

Once in the skies, the crew really started to put on the moves. More drinks, impressive meals (by airline standards anyway, although I did tell them they were the best I'd ever had), refreshing hot towels, and tempting snack delights such as ice cream and chocolate bars.

Not long after dinner, the crew quietly dimmed the lights and lowered the shutters. However, this was no time to roll over and go to sleep. The flight was still young, and the fun just beginning. Both Premium Economy and Economy seats are equipped with large seatback video screens. Being sensitive to our individual needs, Virgin offer 50 movies to choose from. I could play, pause, go faster, take it slow, back a little, and, of course, stop if the film was just not doing it for me. Whenever I felt like a break between the action, a huge selection of TV shows, computer games, and audio channels awaited my every command.

After some initial fumbling around, I discovered that each seat has its own phone and email address. Of course, I could have communicated with the outside world, but why bother when the real enjoyment was dialling seat numbers to prank call and heavy breathe other passengers for free until I learnt that my seat number appeared at the receivers end. For those who would rather fly by the motto "all work and no play", Premium Economy also provides in-seat power supply for laptop computers.

While gadgets might be a boy's best friends, no airline gets far with me unless they can back it up with a great personality. That's where the experienced and friendly Virgin Atlantic crew really made my first time special, even announcing over the PA system that they would be delighted for me to fly with them again! They haven't called yet, but I'm sure they will.

Now you know how I lost my Virginity and still wear the big grin to prove it. But don't take it from me, give your travel agent a call and tell them "I want what he's having".

Rome airport management and airline competition in the european countries.

General overview of Rome airport management.

rome airport transfer

Article Body:

Airport management practices can be distinguished from two different perspectives. Firstly, an entity can manage airports as an integrated network. On the contrary, airports can be managed by an autonomous entity that is responsible for a low number of airports. Secondly, airport authorities can be owned either by public institutions, by private firms or a mix of both.

These practices have a wide range of effects on the ability of an airport authority to attract the most convenient airlines for it. In addition to this, any competitive airline strategy depends fundamentally on airport access. In this way, Rome airport management trends to have effects on airline and italian airports competition. Although international services are still highly regulated, it can be said that travelers enjoy currently of a greater choice of alternatives to chose, a higher service frequency and low prices.

There is a consensus that the achievement, maintenance or increase of these benefits in the post- liberalization period depends fundamentally on the existence of an effective competition on the route. Most airports in the EU, like Rome airports, have been traditionally considered as public service organizations and most of them have not escaped from privatization policies implemented in the last decades; since 1996, and particularly in the recent years, a range of different airport ownership types have arisen due to the different historical and political approaches of EU countries so that it is possible to find any type of airport ownership model in these areas.

This fact makes of great interest to study the EU case, taking into account that airport finance and airline access to airports follow common features all over the world with the important exception of US.

I admit it, I am afraid to fly. And I’m not alone, as many as 1 in 6 adults has at least some fears about flying. For me it’s definitely not a rational fear. In fact all my analytical and logical skills fly right out the window whenever I think about getting on a commercial plane. The most amazing part is that I grew up flying. My father owns a small plane and we would go flying every weekend.

In my preteen years I had an aborted takeoff during a commercial flight and while it didn’t scare me at all during the event, when I later found out that it had made the local news I began to see that this was perhaps a bigger deal (it really wasn’t but I was a preteen after all). I also began to recognize my own mortality and realized that I am a control freak and don’t enjoy the thought of putting my life in the hands of pilots I don’t know.

However, I’m gradually working my way out of my fears and back into a state of mind that is not afraid. It’s taking me a lot of time, but I make progress everyday.

My first technique is to get a large inside picture of a commercial plane (preferably one that I’ll be flying in soon) and make it the background image of my computer desktop. This way, every time I get on my computer I’m looking toward the front of an airplane as if I am a passenger. Initially this worked so well my pulse would race and my breathing rate went up. I’ve now conditioned myself to seeing that image so it no longer bothers me.

I also like to watch internet videos of planes taking off and landing. My favorite videos are those that are taken from inside the plane, looking out the window at the wing; hearing the roar of the engines and seeing the ground fall away beneath the plane as it rises upon takeoff. Sitting in my recliner with headphones on and watching those videos enables me to participate in a takeoff without actually being on the plane. I can condition myself to the sights and sounds I would normally experience.

I’ve found several helpful online courses designed to give information to fearful flyers. I use them a lot as I get closer to departure, and I’ve bought every book I can find about conquering one’s fear of flying. I take them with me, I read them often.

I don’t watch news clips or specials about airplane crashes. The media sensationalizes airplane crashes simply because they happen so rarely. That also means they repeat that horrific story over and over, scaring the wits out of unsuspecting people.

There are dozens of helpful statistics about the safety of air travel; The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) says your chances of being in a fatal plane crash are anywhere from 1 in 400,000 to 1 in 10 million depending on the airline you’re flying. To someone who has a genuine fear of flying those numbers don’t mean anything when you’re locked in a steel tube with no way of setting foot on the ground until AFTER you’ve gone through takeoff, landing and turbulence.

I recognize that I need help and am trying to look at air travel from a logical perspective again. Each trip I hope to get a little better. If you are suffering from a similar fear, I encourage you to go through the various online resources available and seek additional professional help if your fears are strong enough and you are unable to get through them on your own. It’s ok. We can get through this and learn to enjoy (or at least tolerate) this means of travel in order to take that awesome vacation, see family or fulfill the requirements of a great job.

Contrary to what most believe, travel agents do not always know best. They tend to steer you on the route of major airlines, which happens to be the most expensive. They neglect to inform their customers of the other methods of travel that are available to them, which makes sense because they will not make a commission if the customers go with a method that they are not affiliated with.

With that said, why use a travel agent? Be your own travel agent. The following information will tell you how to be your own travel agent and book the cheapest flight possible.

Global Travel International provides all of the necessary resources for anyone to be an independent travel agent. As an independent travel agent, you can take advantage of the many opportunities you’ll have to attend educational and exciting workshops, seminars, events and conferences. You’ll learn the most fundamental rules of getting the cheapest flight possible. One of the rules is that flights leaving Fridays, Sundays, and Mondays are always more expensive. Try to leave and return sometime in the middle of the week.
You’ll learn the lowest possible fare might not fall under the economy or APEX fare rate. APEX (advance purchase excursion), is much lower than normal fares and is valid in specific sectors of economy class. It also must be purchased at least seven days prior to time of departure.
You can take advantage of deals that cater directly to travel agents. Travel agents are privy to a wealth of discounts due to their status.
You’ll learn the best deals for flights for major airlines are located and sometimes only valid on the company's website. As a travel agent you will be sent notifications of deals through email, which at most times are before they are featured on the site itself.

You’ll learn where and how to book charter flights. They, for the most part, offer fares that are much lower than major airlines. The reason for this is because charter companies lease an airplane for a specific route and allotted time. The already low price for tickets begins to decrease as the departure day approaches. However, if not enough seats are sold, the flight will be cancelled without notice, and other airlines are not at any obligation to accommodate you if such an occurrence happens.
Consolidators are the Price Club of airline travel – large brokerage houses which buy blocks of tickets from airlines at wholesale prices and then pass the savings on to individual flyers. Airlines sell to consolidators at reduced prices because they fear that the tickets would otherwise go unsold. Consolidators buy seats mostly on established carriers for flights that are headed to overseas destinations. Travel agents booking flights with consolidators can save anywhere from 20 to 50 percent off the price of a regular ticket.

In addition to booking cheap flights, a Global travel agent can make money in four ways.

1. You earn commission on the travel you book for yourself, your relatives, friends and business associates.
2. You get paid a quick cash bonus when you refer a new agent to Global Travel International
3. You also make money from all of your referred new agents’ commissionable travel sales, and
4. You earn even more cash when your referred agents renew their membership.

Article Body:

Charter flights are an alternative to commercial flights. In 1987 the Civil Aeronautics Board opened charters to the public and permitted a great deal of flexibility and competitiveness. Anyone can fly a public charter. It is not restricted to an individual; groups can also charter flights.

You can fly charters into one city and return from somewhere else. One-way tickets, known in charter-industry lingo as "half roundtrips"(one way tickets), can be bought. Charters can land at over 5,300 airports in the U.S., while commercial airlines are limited to the 560 airports with landing strips long enough to support them. Hence, charter airlines can get you closer to your final destination than commercial airlines.

In chartered flights you deal directly with the wholesale tour operators who act as core entities, unlike scheduled flights. In turn, the tour operators charter entire planes or segments of planes from airlines to fly specific routes at specific times. They set fares and sell tickets either through their own retail outlets, through travel agents or through discount dealerships.

The price is a main advantage of charter flights. Although the fares fluctuate considerably depending on the seasons, they cost from $50-$200 less than the lowest round-trip excursion fare on a scheduled airline. Depending on the changes in the travel, the charter fares slide low on off-days and higher on weekends.

Larger tour operators with many flights to different places sell half round-trips that permit you to fly to one destination and return from another. Two half round-trips cost only slightly more than one "whole" round-trip. Other large operators even allow some flexibility for altering your return trip, although this privilege cannot be counted upon on every charter. Charters often provide the only nonstop or direct service overseas from interior cities.

One of the main drawbacks of charters is that they don't go everywhere. While many charter flights take off for Europe or Southeast Asia, few are available to countries whose

governments have protectionist policies toward national or state-owned airlines. Consequently, few charters are available to the Far East. Secondly, charters have restricted and inflexible schedules. Tour operators arrange back-to-back flights on which planes fly into, for example Los Angeles, on Saturday morning and depart on Saturday night. You can stay any number of weeks, but you cannot fly within the week or on any other day.

Charter passengers must pay for the charter flight weeks or possibly months in advance. Tour operators will sell seats until the last minute, but in practice the most desirable dates fill up early. Also, passengers who alter or cancel their travel plans are subject to substantial penalties.

Article Body:

Over the last five years Europe has seen an increase in the number of low cost airlines which is great news for the holidaymaker, but many say bad news for the high street travel agent.

I remember a friend looking to take her husband away for the weekend to Dublin, Ireland and went to a high street travel agent. She was given a quote of £300 for a weekend, including flights and accommodation - book the same flight with Ryanair and a hotel in the centre of Dublin direct with the hotel, and the weekend actually cost her only £190 again including flights and accommodation - a saving of £110.

Here are my tips for searching low cost airline tickets;

Book in plenty of time

The later you leave it the more expensive the flight becomes, most airlines charge more if you book the ticket a few days or even a week before you want to departure, so the earlier you book it the cheaper the flight will cost.

Weekend departures

If you book your flight for the weekend then the ticket will cost you more money, as most people travel at the weekend, so try and book the flight departure during the week, and not only will your flight be cheaper but you’ll probably find that they will be more accommodation special offers

Travel agent flight booking

Don’t book your flight through a travel agent, simply because you’ll be charged more than booking direct with the airline - you have to remember that the travel agents in most cases add on commission to the flight, they have to make a living, but why should you pay more.

Travel out of school holidays

Like weekend departures flight prices increase during the school or bank holidays, so where you can try and book your flight during the school term.

Late night / Early morning flights

To save the most money when booking your airline ticket, book a flight either late at night or in the early hours of the morning, this is where the best savings are made, simply because of the unsocial flying times.

Summary:

To help their executives travel fast and smoothly, leasing private jets has become the chosen option for many the companies due to their time-efficiency, security and flexibility. The benefits these executive and luxury private jets offer are many. Read on to find out more….

Keywords:

Luxury private jet, Private jet, Executive private jets, Travel on a private jet, Private jets

Article Body:

If the executives of your company have to travel regularly, leasing a private jet can help you in your business to a great extent. Whether you are concerned about time, flexibility, safety or privacy, a chartered executive private jet seems to be the order of the day. Luxury private jets are the signature of high-flying business people. Leasing a private jet for personal use is also beneficial.

The cost of leasing a private jet may be a little high, but the safety and time-savings that they offer easily justify the cost. Leasing a private jet has several advantages:

It’s Hassle-free

While using commercial flights, you have to go through the mandatory time-consuming security check-ups. Removing shoes, unpacking and repacking carry-on luggage, standing in queues takes up a lot of time. You may even be required to arrive at the airport several hours early.

On the other hand, imagine no luggage or security checks, no removing your shoes, no queues and no delayed planes. With private jet charter; pilot, crew members and stewardess are available for you 24/7. Your chartered private jet is waiting for you to take off, rather than you waiting for your flight to take off.

Save Precious Time

Time is money for top corporate executives. Being stranded at a commercial airport for several hours is a complete wastage for time. Executive’s time is valued at and its wastage can’t be justified at any cost.

Therefore, executive private jets become the best option. It’s time efficient and maximizes productivity of the employees by saving their valuable time.

Luxurious Interior

On a private charter jet you are offered a luxury which you can never dream of receiving in a commercial plane. The seats are extremely comfortable with plenty of leg room. They almost look like a comfortable living room with TV, phone lines, computer as well as fully stocked bars.

Apart from that, the oxygen flow in the interior of a private jet is much superior. On a commercial plane, pilots often reduce the oxygen level to minimize costs aggravating the effects of jet lag.

Guarantees Confidentiality

Executives of giant companies have a busy life. They like to work when flying. Now commercial flights don’t make it possible. After all it’s like risking your company’s confidential information by working on a laptop which half a dozen people can see.

Traveling on a private jet ensures the confidentiality of your business. You can work or even conduct business meetings aboard with a relaxed mind without being bothered about spying eyes.

Additional Comfort

You can have menus and drinks customized according to your needs and demands. If your trip is for pleasure your favorite forms of entertainment are also arranged.

Stay grounded

Hold a conference inside the cabin, or talk to people on the ground. As majority of the private jets have excellent, sophisticated communication equipments, you can always stay in touch.

Whether you’re flying for business or pleasure on a private jet you are assured personalized service in every aspect of your travel. It truly is the ultimate way to travel. Enjoy the opulence and luxury of a private jet, save time and have peace of mind.

Private jet charter services have made it very easy for people to organize instant business trips. Especially for business tycoons, jet charter travel is of great importance. There are several advantages of hiring a private jet:

Scheduling

You are the boss here. Your aircraft would leave when you decide. The main advantage of hiring private charter flights is the freedom of scheduling. You can plan out the entire schedule according to your business needs and fly at any time you want. You can also alter the schedule if required.

For business community time is money. Wastage of precious time means loss of millions. Normally, traveling by a commercial airline lead to a great wastage of time due to delayed or cancelled flights. Additional Facilities

A private air charter service also ensures that you get excellent gourmet meals, ground transportation facilities and return services to make your trip convenient and memorable. You dictate the needs here. You can also demand specific items to be served on board like vegetarian meals or a certain drink.

Added Security

The most important benefit of private jet charter services is that you get a high level security. It’s hassle-free. You don’t need to stand in a queue to get through the security area. No need to worry about luggage loss. You get high level of comfort, privacy and security.

Choose your Airport

With private jets you get the facility of choosing the airport you want to land in. You can decide to land in a less crowed airport, where you can save your precious time in car and ground transportation.

A private jet charter service ensures that its customer service personnel are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to meet client’s demands. It provides corporate, executive and independent travelers with top level security, comfort, privacy and flexibility; which is not available in any other mode of transportation.

Probably that’s why more and more corporate houses are now beginning to prefer private jet charter services to regular commercial flights to ensure their people reach the right place at the right time with minimal hassles and fatigue.

There are few things as exciting and inspiring as getting to plan a great getaway or vacation. Life seems to get more and more busy and stressful as it goes on, so the relief and relaxation that a vacation provides are desperately needed by all busy adults. One of the more stressful elements of planning a vacation is finding reasonable airline fares.

For some reason, it is always stressful for people to find great deals on airline fares. Many people look in what they thought was the best place only to find that they paid way too much in airline fares for their next vacation. As a former travel agent, it is my pleasure to help my friends who are in need of help finding the best airline fares for any upcoming trip or vacation.

My biggest piece of advice to anyone looking for the right airline fares is to slow down. Being in a rush planning a vacation or getaway is the best way to stress yourself out and to make poor decisions when it comes to choosing airline fares or any other important decision about your trip. The more relaxed and at peace you can be when planning your trip, the better deals you will find because you will be willing to wait. So take your time and don't rush into any decision on airline fares or anything else about your trip.

Another piece of advice I give is to search high and wide for the best deals on airline fares. Do not just go with the first prices you see or you will have a trip full of regrets because you didn't take time to price the best deals. You can start your search by talking to a travel agent and getting some advice about current airline fares, or you can start by searching for airline fares on your own. Just be sure to do a fair amount of searching before you make any purchases.

Coming up with a budget for different aspects of your trip can be really helpful when you are trying to make decisions about things like airline fares. Set your budget in advance and than only make decisions that fall within that buget.

Planning a trip does not have to be hard or stressful. And finding great deals on airline fares can be fun and easy as well. Just take your time and compare a variety of options and you'll be well on your way of making good decisions.

The advancements in science and industry in that last 100 years have left us humans somewhat baffled. You will often hear it said that in the last century, we as human beings have made more accomplishments than at any other time in recorded history. But did it all get a little big, a little to fast?

It seems that these days’ people tend to be more afraid of different things and as humans; we seem a lot more ‘phobic’ than our recent ancestors. I don’t for one minute think that we have evolved into complete phobic beings, but more like the world, science and industry have all evolved and left us behind, thus creating loads of new unnatural scenarios to intimidate us.

I believe that one of these ‘unnatural scenarios’ is flying. For instance it was only a couple of life times ago (if that) that the Write Brothers created their flying machine. And It wasn’t until the middle of the last century (not even a lifetime ago) that we began to fly commercially and start taking our holidays abroad, however just because it may be unnatural, it doesn’t mean that we have to keep any fears of flying that we may have.

Hypnosis, EFT and NLP can all be used with extreme effectiveness to eliminate your fear of flying, however I use all three as to make sure it goes away and stays away! This way you aren’t always sitting there just waiting for it to come back, but actually enjoying the experience that once terrified you.

Whether it affects you in your business life or just the family holiday, a fear of flying can cause no end of upset and unhappiness, however there is now an effective and in most cases a quick solution.

For years Hypnotherapy has been used by so many people worldwide to allow them to swiftly get rid of their fear of flying and allow them to feel comfortable and in fact rather enjoy the whole experience.

If you are tired and always regretting not doing the things that you have always wanted to do because of a fear of flying, then why not see how Hypnotherapy and Self Hypnosis can help you further.

The process is so simple and natural that you will be amazed just how quickly you will see the benefits! Just imagine yourself laying on that beach now. A thousand mils away and not a care in the world! How fantastic would that be?

Bad Airline Food - Now This?!

Word Count:

Airline food has notoriously been a terrible product while inflight catering for private jets has been compared favorably to five star restaurants. Unfortunately, all of this is now changing. Read on for all the sordid details!

catering, corporate flight attendant, inflight caterer, cabin managers, cuisine, wine, appetizers

Article Body:

Airline food has long been the scourge of the industry. Literally! With customer expectations low, few expect that the meal they are served onboard an airliner will rise to the level of even a family style restaurant.

On the other hand, corporate jet catering is a whole different animal. With delectable entrees, delightful soups, outstanding appetizers and snacks, and the most decadent desserts imaginable, the passenger on a private jet expects [and pays for!] food akin to a five star performance.

Not anymore.

Today, in-flight caterers providing exemplary service and dining options is almost a thing of the past. Thanks to the rise of fractional jet operators who demand a narrow menu and smaller portion sizes, the quality levels with many in-flight caterers has nosedived. In addition, Air Chef, the largest provider of in-flight catering to business jets in the world, continues to snap up poorly performing caterers across the US. Now, corporate flight attendants must call a 1-800 number to place their order with an inexperienced and unknowledgeable clerk. Forget customer service and forget special orders...these do upset Air Chef!

With the bad name associated with the company, Air Chef is apparently seeking to distance itself from even its name. Air Culinaire, a caterer with operations in four different cities is now part of the Air Chef network. Now for the rub: word has it that Air Chef, in a bid to sharpen its image and to stave off the growing ranks of ticked off corporate flight attendants -- their bread 'n butter -- the caterer will be changing its name to Air Culinaire.

Corporate flight attendants aren't amused by Air Chef as evidenced by their comments on the Corporate Jet Catering site as well as on Cabin Managers, a forum that is also tied in with the Corporate Flight Attendant Community.

By the way, Rita's Catering of Boston is another Air Chef caterer...business flight attendants know this and are fleeing to the competition as fast as they can.

Hey, Air Chef: do you get it?

Recently, southwest airlines have announced their new flight schedule and fares from Philadelphia from May 9 2004. Now customers can easily purchase tickets for the new service with airfares starting from as low as $29 one way.

Even the most expensive airfare offered by the Southwest airlines to and from Philadelphia is quite inexpensive. In the beginning these airfares started at a mere $49 one way to Providence and they top out at only $299 one way for cross country flights to Las Vegas, Phoenix and the west coast. You are not required for an advance purchase or overnight stay on these unrestricted fares.

Southwest airlines is quite popular for its low fare leadership and the legacy carriers that serve Philadelphia are charging up to a whopping $497 one way for an unrestricted ticket to Providence (Boston area) as compared to southwest’s meager $49 one way unrestricted fare to Providence. In the same way, the walk up fare of the southwest between Philadelphia and Chicago midway is only $99 one way.

In case you purchase at least 14 days in advance of your departure and within one day of making reservations, southwest offers a non refundable fare between Philadelphia and Chicago for only $79 one way as compared to its competitors who charge $123 each way. Therefore you can easily find a comparable savings across the board.

Additional Start Up Airlines Are Looming

Article Body:

Several months ago, in a related article, I made mention of two start up air carriers for the US market. Since then, both EOS Airlines and Maxjet Airways have taken flight and are successfully serving their passengers and making plans for future expansion. Beyond these two carriers, additional carriers are waiting to take their first flights. Let's take a look at some leading contenders.

Fly First Class -- This Florida based air carrier is planning to use Wilmington, NC as its base. With flights to Bermuda and London planned, the airline -- true to its name -- will offer only one level of service, first class. Expected first flight is sometime during the second quarter of 2006.

Primaris Airlines -- Already FAA approved and the owner of a single Boeing 757 aircraft which they currently are leasing to another carrier, Primaris placed an order in January 2005 for Boeing's new Dreamliner aircraft, also known as the 787. Before the first of these particular aircraft arrive in 2008, Primaris reportedly will be leasing three additional 757 aircraft and begin scheduled service between New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco by the middle of 2006.

Virgin America -- Pending government approval, Virgin America will fly upwards of 105 Airbus aircraft. Based in San Francisco, the Richard Branson inspired airline must overcome some hurdles first including convincing the US government that the airline is, indeed, mostly US owned.

Other start up carriers which are also being watched include: Blackstar Airlines, USA Jet Airlines, and Baltia Air Lines. All start ups must secure key funding, receive various federal and local governmental approvals, organize a management team, and commence hiring well before the first flight is made. It is this particular process that shakes out all the pretenders leaving behind carriers committed to making a go of it.

Jet Aviation has announced that they have been sold, pending antitrust clearance, to the Permira Funds a leading international private equity specialist. Ending several years of speculation, the Zurich based operator of business jet services has finally accomplished what had long been expected: the sale of the Hirschmann family business to outsiders.

As early as 2000 the sale of Jet Aviation had been expected by employees as well as by industry insiders. Indeed, Jet Aviation management had been marketed openly throughout 2001 by Goldman Sachs, but the sale was cancelled when a suitable buyer was not found and the terrorist attacks put a further drag on an already downturning economy. Still, rumors of the sale of the company persisted and heated up recently with speculation that one of Warren Buffet's companies, i.e., Gulfstream Aerospace, may have been interested in the company's maintenance facilities.

Currently, Jet Aviation is a Zurich-based concern employing 3500 people worldwide. US operations remain strong with the bulk of the employees working out of Teterboro [NJ] Airport.

Even with the probable sale of the company to Permira, speculation is persisting as to what will become of the company after the sale is completed. Some industry leaders believe that the company is more valuable for its parts than as a single entity. Thus, parts of the company could be sold off and a scaled down Jet Aviation might remain in place. Areas of the company thought to be susceptible to a sale include:

1. US Maintenance Facilities. With prime locations at Bedford, Teterboro, West Palm Beach, and Dallas the American facilities are capable of providing expert airframe support to just about any type of business aircraft.

2. Completion Centers. Some or all of the company's award winning completion centers are thought to be highly marketable. From the Boeing BBJ to the Gulfstream 550, and to the Sikorsky S-70A aircraft delivered "green" to Jet Aviation facilities are outfitted with state of the art interiors.

3. FBOs. Jet Aviation's group of fixed based operations which provide domestic and international flight handling, line maintenance services, refueling, passenger and crew transportation, catering and hotel accommodations and immigration and customs services are an important asset for the company. Indeed, the Dubai facility -- Jet Aviation's newest FBO -- is considered by some to be unmatched in the industry.

4. Jet Professionals. Founded in 1983, Jet Professionals -- an aviation personnel service provider -- became part of Jet Aviation as part of the acquisition of K-C Aviation Transportation Services in 1996.

5. Aircraft Management. Over 160 aircraft worldwide are managed by Jet Aviation including more than 50 in the US alone. Many of these aircraft are also available for charter. US operations could be sold to Jet Aviation's strategic partner, New World Jet Corporation, a FAR Part 135 charter certificate operator.

In all, the sale of Jet Aviation ends one big area of speculation while, at the same time, it has opened up other areas. In the world of business aviation speculation is business as usual.

Top 10 Fear of Flying Power Statements

A fearful flyer who is about to board a plane doesn't usually remember a single fact or figure about the safety of air travel. That fearful flyer is more concerned about whether they can get on the plane without having a nervous breakdown and desperately wanting to know they'll make it safely to their destination so they can get back OFF the plane.

That's what happens to me when I'm boarding a plane. I'm wild-eyed, desperate, panicky and not listening to any reasonable thing my flying companion is telling me. When I'm boarding a plane I need a cheat sheet; a quick reference guide of simple statements that I know to be true but am unable to think of on my own. Here are some from my personal list:

1. There are millions of people on thousands of flights EVERY DAY that are very routine and never make the news.
2. The plane was designed to be in the air, that's where it performs best.
3. Air is a thick fluid, a lot like jello. The plane is being supported by big columns of "jello air". It has substance even though I can't see it.
4. Turbulence in a plane is like being in a car going over a bump in the road. It doesn't hurt the plane. The wings will not fall off.
5. The plane is designed to handle more stress than any normal flying situation will deliver.
6. The pilots and flight crew do this every day, the sky is their office, they are professionals.
7. The pilots go through extensive repetitive training for every possible situation, even ones I haven't thought of.
8. The plane has many backup systems and is capable of flying safely with several systems not functions perfectly.
9. The sounds I hear are normal and mean the plane is functioning correctly.
10. This flight will not last forever, I will get through it one minute at a time and then I will enjoy my destination.

Sometimes one statement has more meaning than another, it depends on which fear is bothering me the most. It can help to repeat the important points over and over. Focus on them. Make them real. I imagine myself as the pilot just going to his job; a job that he worked hard for, he dearly loves and cares deeply about. He loves to fly, and he's going to deliver me to my destination and then turn around and take more people to their destination. I am just one of millions of people that will fly today.

Repeating these statements over and over helps me to come back to reality and out of my fog of fear. Your top 10 statements may be different. Some of them may be the same. As a fellow fearful flyer I know how hard it is to remember the facts that gave you comfort while in your living room. That's why I'm always sure to take my cheat sheet of power statements with me on every flight.

There are many finer things in life, things that only the rich and famous get to experience. For most of us, we miss out on the 'best' experiences in life due to lack of money or popularity. I used to think that a charter flight was a luxury that I, as a common person, would have to do without and simply be left wondering about. That isn't the case. I recently began taking a charter flight to different functions and for trips, and I've learned that they are just as great as I had always imagined and that they are reasonable even for the common man.

I will be honest, I have always had opinions about people who were wealthy enough to have a charter flight to any vacation or event of their choice without thinking twice about it. Recently, however, a friend of mine booked a charter flight for six of our friends who were wanting to get away to the mountains for a long weekend. I thought she was crazy when she said that she had gotten a reasonable deal on a charter flight.

There are many types of charter flights I have learned, and they are not all as glamorous as I onced imagined. For example, I have friends who vacation in Mexico each year and they use a charter flight each time. For them, a charter flight simply means a non-stop flight on an airline that isn't a mainstream big name that we often hear about. They do not have to mess with layovers at random airlines, but their charter flight goes directly from their hometown airport to the airport at their destination city.

Finding a charter flight doesn't have to be difficult. In fact, it can be quite easy. Get ahold of a travel agent and see what they have to say about booking a charter flight, or get online and see what you can learn about the benefits of a charter flight. In my opinion, they are much easier than regular commercial flights and they are much more comfortable as well.

A charter flight is in fact one of life's finer things. It is not, however, reserved only for the rich and famous. You and almost everyone you know could benefit by learning the truth about a charter flight and then booking one for your next trip or vacation. I assure you that you'll be glad you did. And you may never go back to regular commercial flights.

VLJ's - aka: very light jets, microjets, personal jets, minijets - are a hot topic these days. Looking like something out of "The Jetsons", these super-sleek, super-economical jets have created a new category in the private aircraft industry and are eagerly anticipated in the charter world. So what's all the fuss about? Well, VLJ's cost much less than small cabin jets, which will open the world of private aviation to a larger segment of the market. Also, since they can easily takeoff and land at small local airports, they allow travelers to avoid high-volume airports and arrive closer to their destinations.

"So what's the catch?" the savvy jet traveler may ask. Well, despite their efficiency and flexibility, their nickname ‘minijet' aptly describes most VLJ cabin interiors. Snug is the word, although cabin interior can vary based on the specific jet sub-category (ie: single-engine, small-cabin, large-cabin). Also, with its limited in-flight services and performance, VLJ flights are best kept to a couple of hours at most, with no more than 4 passengers. However, for short, direct flights to and from smaller airports, VLJ's may be the jet for you. And with the ease of flying privately, business travelers in particular may find VLJS an attractive option over first-class.

Airline Tickets: Make Some Time to Save Some Money

Word Count:

520

Summary:

Airline tickets are always forgotten or left until the last minute.

Keywords:

airline tickets

Article Body:

When people decide to travel, the last thing that in general crosses their mind has to do with airline tickets. In general, people are so anxious to take the trip that they establish the destination, choose the hotel, look for tourism packages and even sometimes rent a car and the airline ticket is forgotten.

Airline companies know about that and they can do many things just to create strategies to get the biggest profits they can from the buyer. The only way to prevent this from happening is to dedicate some time before travelling just looking for different companies that offer tickets to the destination you want, and comparing the prices.

Saving some money

Have you ever given up on a trip because the airline ticket was a fortune you couldn't afford? Yes, this is a pretty common thing and it happens more than we imagine. There are people that plan the whole trip, choose the place, the hotel, buy special clothes for the destination, and when it's time to buy the airline ticket, simply find out they cannot afford it.

In order to avoid that, rather than planning everything in advance and leaving the airline tickets for last, do the opposite. Airline tickets should be at the head of the list of things to do for someone who is going to travel.

It's important to have some guidelines to buy cheaper tickets and save some money to spend on the trip. Some useful things are:

- Write a small list of places you would like to go to. After that, start looking for airline companies that offer flights to those places.
- When this is done, it's time to check your budget and establish how much you are willing to spend. This is pretty helpful because it avoids frustration. It's easier to travel if you have more than one option because you can have different prices to choose from and see which one best fits in with your own budget.
- If you are used to travelling on business, you can check on discounts, either with a travel agency or with the company you are using.
- Sometimes, travelling with a tourist package is cheaper than planning your trip by yourself. This happens because agencies offer packages that include airline tickets, hotels, sightseeing, visits to landmarks, car rental and some other things.

Different prices - Same arrival

Since there are many airline companies spread through the world, people can find several prices if they look at different airlines. The competition in this market is so tough that the difference between prices can be enormous.

However, if you are used to always travelling with the same company, you probably have some sort of bonus program that offers discounts. In this case, it's advisable for you to check the deals that may be available to the destination you've chosen, before going looking for tickets with other companies.

Holidays and airline tickets

If you have all the details of your holiday settled, buy your ticket in advance. Besides avoiding a rise in the price, you don't run the risk of tickets for your destination being fully booked.

Private jet planes are the new status symbol to show that you are one of the richest people in the world. Everyone seems to be buying private jets now. All of these jets are being completely gutted and redone inside and out. Not too long ago, it was a big deal for a person to own a small propeller plane with about ten seats in it. Now many very famous and rich people are buying large jumbo jets and turning them into hotels and clubs in the air. I think that the movie Soul Plane helped to shed some light on and poke some fun at this growing trend of “pimping” out private jet planes. This movie went a little overboard on the types of accessories that most people would put in their private jet plane, but it also showed some of the things that people actually do have in their private jets.

There have been many news stories about celebrities buying private jet planes for millions of dollars, and then spending two or three times more to get the planes designed and furnished exactly the way that they want them. Most of the time in these large jumbo jet planes, the seating will be completely removed, and other amenities will be put in their place. Some of the time the seating in the plane goes from three hundred to about twenty five. However the twenty five seats that are still available are usually recliners or sofas, which will make any trip much more enjoyable. Also these private jet planes usually have some sort of bedroom, maybe a bar, and sometimes even a dance floor built-in. Others have a dining table, many televisions, chandeliers, and other accessories to make the private plane feel like home.

Personally, I believe that all of this extravagance is a bit too much, but I think that people should be able to spend their money in whatever way they see fit. So if anyone out there would like to invite me to take a ride on one of these over extravagant private jet planes, I think I would not have a problem saying yes, and go along for the ride. Anyone wanna make me an offer?

Eurostar or the plane?

Article Body:

Traveling by air has always given the people of this planet the ability to hop from one continent to another in a matter of hours. There is no doubt whatsoever, airline travel has not only changed the way we travel, but it has also impacted on our daily lives.

Strawberries in the middle of winter, to packages sent the same day from the other side of the world. The aero plane has certainly made a big impact on society.

The airliner and the airlines have been the predominant choice for the majority of business people and holidaymaker's alike, looking for quick, efficient and nowadays, a cheap way to travel. There are of course alternative ways to travel, but to some, seem a little outdated.

Many years ago, the train was the lifeblood of countries and economies. The train system, certainly in the UK can leave a lot to be desired at times, but this has been due to the continued under investment from successive governments.

Since the opening of the Channel tunnel in the late 90's, the Eurostar train system linking the UK to mainline Europe has seen progressive growth, despite earlier faltering's. Now this service seems likely to be the major opposition to the low cost airlines flying from the UK to Europe, especially from airports in the London area.

Typically, a flight from London Heathrow to Paris Charles De Gaul (CDG) airport takes just under 1 hour. That seems really quick especially if you need to be in Paris for a business meeting. Now consider these points. London Heathrow is not actually in the centre of London, nor is Paris (CDG). The distance from London Heathrow to the the centre of London is approximately 15 miles, and is pretty much the same from Paris (CDG) to the centre of Paris. With that said, that 1 hour doesn't seem so appealing after all.

We arrived at the check in point at London Waterloo International at just after 14:00. The train we were due to travel on departed at 15:11, calling at Calais and Paris Gare de Nord (the north station). We had traveled by tube to get to Waterloo station, which took about 25 minutes, involving 1 change at Leicester square at a cost of £2 per person.

We had taken the opportunity to book the tickets for the Eurostar in good time and received a great deal. For just £59 return, per person, our total spend so far had totaled £120. Two Eurostar tickets at £59, and two underground tickets at £2 each. We had looked at flying from Heathrow with British Airways and their cheapest fare was £69 per person. Not much difference in the price, but the travel to heathrow and also from Paris (CDG) would probably equate to the same again. Not a good choice.

After initial security and passport controls, we took our seats at 14:55. At exactly 15:11 the train glided effortlessly out of the station with the view of the magnificent London Eye visible to our right. So far so good.

The journey out of London takes you through the suburbs of Brixton and then finally out into the countryside. It seems a little dated on the English side as regards the state of the railway, but after about 35 minutes into the journey, we turn off the old victorian railway onto the brand new, recently commissioned UK high speed line and race along the kent countryside at speeds up to 300kmh (186 mph).

It doesn't seem long before we are going to say goodbye to England and the announcement informs us that the transit time in the Channel Tunnel will be approximately twenty minutes. In no time at all, we exit the tunnel to a glorious blue sky in France.

After making a stop at Calais, we have about an hour and twenty minutes before we reach our final destination. Racing through the French countryside and negotiating the Paris suburbs, we arrive two minutes early. It really was a great journey on Eurostar, and now we are at the very heart of Paris. Those people who had decided to take the plane would now be fighting for taxis or taking the RER train system into city centre. Another 30 to 40 minutes more to add to the journey, not to mention the cost.

The total journey time from the centre of London to the centre of Paris had taken us a measly 2 hours and 40 minutes (approx). This is due to be slashed to around 2 hours and 15 minutes once the remainder of the UK high speed rail link is commissioned in 2007. Once the line is opened, Eurostar will be moving homes and will no longer operate from London Waterloo, transferring to London St.Pancras.

The aero plane laid claim to the king of transportation. After traveling with Eurostar, we say the king is dead, long live the king. Airline domination from London to Paris and Europe has finally had it's day.
